Set on south-east-facing slopes, the Clos des Chênes climat, nestled at the heart of Volnay, enjoys ideal exposure and clay-limestone soils scattered with stones, offering excellent drainage and perfect to for concentrating aromas. In the vineyard, the Pinot Noir grapes are harvested by hand. In the winery, vinification then takes place in stainless-steel vats following a traditional method, with gentle maceration. The wine is subsequently aged in oak casks, with only a small proportion of new oak, for twelve months to bring complexity and depth to the whole.
The brilliant ruby hue promises an expressive bouquet. The nose reveals complex aromas of black cherry, raspberry and violet, lifted by light spicy and woody notes. On the palate, the attack is supple, the tannins fine and well integrated. A perfect balance between fruit purity and subtle minerality leads toward a long, elegant finish.
