Lot presentation

Caperdonich 34 years 1972 Duncan Taylor From Huntly To Paris Cask n°6707 - 210 bottles - bottled 2007 LMDW

The wine

This special edition was bottled in 2007 by Duncan Taylor for La Maison du Whisky and named From Huntley to Paris in reference to the locations of each company.
Distilled in 1972 at Caperdonich, it was then matured for 34 years in a single cask, no. 6707, producing only 210 bottles.
This golden whisky is, for enthusiasts, an explosion of fruit, combining notes of orange, banana and pineapple which then develop into more lemony aromas. Wood and spice then take over. On the palate, fruit is still present, highlighted by white pepper and cinnamon, with a hint of bitterness. The long finish ends on notes of woody, mandarin and ginger. An outstanding single cask!

About the Producer Caperdonich

Scotland, Speyside. Distillery closed.

Known until 1965 as Glen Grant #2, Caperdonich was the embodiment of a blender's malt. Built in 1898 just opposite Glen Grant, its owners (J&J Grant, Glen Grant Distillery) made use of it for only a few years before closing it down. When it reopened in 1965, it underwent major restoration and played a key role in the development of the Chivas Regal blend. From this period, only one 5 year old official bottling is still known. It would then not be until the turn of the 21st century, when Pernod Ricard became the owner in 2001 (before mothballing the site in 2002), that a handful of bottlings would be released in the Distillery Reserve Collection and Small Batch Release ranges. A truly endangered distillery!
