When Aubert de Villaine (Domaine de La Romanée Conti) and Jacques Seysses (Domaine Dujac) come together with Michel Macaux to work on a southern terroir, the results were never going to be dissapointing even to the most demanding palates. A Provençal safe bet!
Domaine de Triennes is situated in Nans-les-Pins and was created in 1989 by two Burgundy icons: Jacques Seysses, founder of Domaine Dujac, and Aubert de Villaine, alongside Parisian friend Michel Macaux. The property was baptised Triennes after Triennia, the festival held for Bacchus which was held every three years during the Roman period. The vineyard covers 46 hectares and is south-facing, with a clay-limestone terroir and slight altitude (400 m), offering a cool microclimate. Planting here is unique, growing traditional varietals alongside many which are not immediately associated with this region, including: Chardonnay, Viognier, Cinsault, Merlot, Cabernet-Sauvignon and Syrah. Rémy Laugier has managed vinification since 1997. They received organic certification in 2014. This is an exciting domaine producing tremendous wines.
