Vintage description 2006 Burgundy

The weather conditions in Burgundy were far from ideal with a heatwave in July, followed by a cold and extremely rainy August and September. Conditions that encouraged the development of mildew, fatal for Pinot Noir. Hence the quality of the reds was heterogeneous. The choice of harvest date proved to be crucial in this region. Rigorous sorting was called for. The domains that chose not to do so produces thin, diluted wines. Despite the fairly bad weather conditions, the whites did remarkably well. The are very well-balanced and have an intense freshness.
