Information
Domaine Berthert-Bondet was set up in the mid-1980s and is a relatively young estate for this region. The Berthet-Bondet family were artisans from Oyonnaux but Jean Berthet-Bondet had other ambitions and chose to study Agronomy at Montpellier. It was here that he met Chantal, his wife. Later on, this desire to work the land led him to settling in Jura's Château-Chalon with Chantal.
In 1984, Jean and Chantal bought this estate and carried out their first harvest in 1985. The property boasts a 16th century vaulted cellar. The couple gradually extended the property. In 1986, they converted an old barn into another winery and in 1987, they built another cellar for ageing the wines. A new storage and labelling area followed in 1997. In January 2012, Chantal retired and concentrated full time on the estate. Jean's daughter Hélène now also works at there too.
The vineyard spans 15 hectares across the Château-Chalon and Côtes du Jura appellations. The estate produces Savignin, Chardonnay, Trousseau Poulsard and Pinot Noir and has had organic certification since 2013.
Fruit forward and fresh, the wines are excellent and have brought the estate to the forefront of Jura's winemaking scene.
This blend of Pinot Noir, Poulsard and Trousseau has undergone a brief maceration and destemming before being matured for a year in stainless steel vats. This explains its rich, aromatic fruitiness, supple, full-bodied substance and indulgent juiciness. Delicious with red meats or grilled meat dishes.
