Pommard 1er Cru Rugiens Fernand et Laurent Pillot (Domaine) 1999
The wine
A gem of the Côte de Beaune and a favoured terroir for Pinot Noir, the Rugiens climat in Pommard is in the process of grand cru classification. Here, the wine is élevaged for 18 months in French oak barrels, with 80% new wood each year. This wine has the fruity virility of a great Pommard, and will develop supple tannins and peppery notes as it ages.
About the Producer Fernand et Laurent Pillot
Les Pillot have been present in Chassagne since the 19th century on several independent domaines. Laurent and Marie-Anne work over 15 hectares on many appellations of the Côte de Beaune. All their wines are vinified and aged in their cellar of Chassagne-Montrachet, reconciling modern equipment with respect for the soil.
