Château les Roques - Réserves des Villages 2003

The wine

This Loupiac is a highly complex cuvée with a great deal of freshness when young and more candied notes as it ages (with an aging potential of around twenty years). It is a wine that goes wonderfully well with sweet-and-savoury dishes (such as duck à l’orange, tajine with prunes or ravioles with Roquefort and figs), in addition to more conventionally accompanying foie gras and desserts (tart-tasting fruit pies). This cuvée is also excellent value for money. The nose suggests white flowers, more specifically acacia, but also apricot and honey. On the palate, flavours of candied citrus fruits and apricot are very noticeable, with fig too, and a pleasant freshness counterbalances the richness of this wine.

Château Les Roques is located in Loupiac (Entre-deux-Mers). It belongs to Vivianne Fertal from Château du Pavillon (from neighbouring appellation Sainte-Croix-du-Mont). This domaine produces great Loupiacs, complex and aromatic, elegant and consistent.
