The richness of the Rhône combined with the freshness of Savoie: Les Friponnes is an excellent cuvée of pure Roussane. Yum!

Vin de Savoie Chignin-Bergeron Les Friponnes Gilles Berlioz 2017
The wine
Bergeron is the name given to Roussane in Savoie. In the appellation of Chignin, Bergeron wines are therefore 100% Roussane. This cuvée, launched in 2015, has been a magnificent success. More accessible than its big bother “Les Fripons”, this wine is ideally drunk young. Freshness - Savoie wines’ key strength - marries wonderfully with the richness of Roussane. We recommend comparing this cuvée with northern Rhône wines: Les Fripponnes is tauter, with a superb, mineral finish.
About the Producer Domaine partagé (Gilles Berlioz)
It has now been thirty years since Gilles Berlioz changed career paths from landscaping to wine making. Passionate and modest, he is careful in the cultivation of his Chignin terroirs, going as far as to work his land with horses. Converted to organic growing in 2005, this 5-hectare domain has recently been certified biodynamic by Demeter. The wines, vinified as one cuvée per terroir, are wonderfully accomplished, pure, mineral and delicate. They aren't made in large quantities, but these cuvées perfectly represent their terroirs. Impassioned by the evolution of his work, Gilles Berlioz is always looking for new ways to improve his vines and growing techniques, always with the aim of better respecting the nature that surrounds him.
