More infoYves Leccia’s Solare Muscat is a wine from the E Croce cuvées that are selected from the most beautiful parcels of land in this unique terroir. The vines, planted on the southwest-facing slopes of the Partinelone hamlet, grow in clay-limestone soils that lie on top of schist bedrock. This is what gives this wine its freshness and remarkable minerality. The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully placed in boxes to conserve the healthy and perfectly ripe berries. The winemaking process starts with a whole cluster pressing that is followed by maceration on the skins for a period of 48 hours. After being extracted and pressed, the free-run juice and press juice are blended and then undergo cold settling. This is followed by fermentation at 18°C in temperature-regulated, stainless-steel tanks for a period of 15 to 20 days without malolactic fermentation. The fermentation process is halted by adding neutral alcohol to to the tank. A period of 24 months of ageing in demi-johns under the sun gives the wine a lovely complexity.
This nectar is characterised by a glistening, golden yellow appearance. On the nose, oxidated notes add depth and complexity. On the palate, there is plenty of length with a long-lasting freshness.
About the Producer Yves Leccia
In the heart of the Patrimonio appellation, in the commune of Poghju d'Oletta, domaine d'Yves Leccia is one of the oldest properties. Winegrowing became the Leccia family's main business in around 1900. Pierrot and Angèle passed the property onto their children in the 1980s, one of whom, Yves, set up his own operation some years later. Today, it is his sister Annette who manages the original domain, whose magnificent Petra Bianca plot produces the wine of the same name. The property also produces a Muscat. The property is in the process of obtaining Ecocert organic certification.
This pure Nielluccio, produced from clay-limestone soil, is aged in vats for 24 months. It is a delicate, precise wine, with lovely aromas of red and black ripe fruit, underscored by light floral and menthol notes. Complex and powerful, the palate presents good flavourful substance, characterized by great finesse and a fresh finish, evolving towards elegant tannins. Keep for: 5 to 6 years.
