More info

Montegrelli from Elvio Cogno is a wine that comes from a parcel of land covering 1.4 hectares exclusively planted with Nebbiolo at a density of 4000 stocks per hectare. The vines are Guyot and free-standing espalier trained. As harvesting is done by hand between the end of September and the beginning of October, the grapes can be gathered at full ripeness. The winemaking process takes place in stainless-steel tanks that are temperature-controlled with automatic stirring. This is then followed by ageing in steel for a period of eight months. The wine rests on its lees for 60 days before being allowed to mature in the bottle for six months.
This wine is characterised by a vibrant, ruby red appearance that has a slight orange tinge at the edges of the glass. On the nose, it is harmonious and balanced with floral, fruity, and lightly spiced notes that offer a finale of rose, violet and white pepper. On the palate, it is fresh, lively, and well-rounded with a lovely integration of acidity, tannins, and alcohol. It reveals itself as smooth, elegant, and Corsican with a long persistence that recalls macerated red berries, strawberry and cassis.
