A superb cuvée displaying all the complexity of Syrah coupled with the expertise of a passionate winemaker.
More infoThe vines grow on dark soil covered with pebbles. To capture the purest expression of the terroir, each parcel is cultivated with loving care and respect for the environment, following organic and biodynamic viticultural practices. The estate is also renowned for being the first in the Walla Walla Valley to convert all its parcels to these new methods. The estate opts for low yields which guarantee concentrated, fragrant grapes. The Syrah vines are no exception and benefit from the same treatment. In the winery, the harvested grapes are gently vinified with little intervention.
The ruddy colour reveals a bouquet that immediately releases scents of black cherry and blackberry. On the palate, the juicy tannins melt in a balanced texture, leading to a rich, lingering, finish. This cuvée promises excellent ageing potential.
About the Producer Cayuse
French hunters planted vines in the Walla Walla Valley in the mid-19th century, in the state of Washington. Christophe Baron, young winemaker from Champagne chose this valley to start his own domain in 1997. It now runs over 18 hectares and is planted with several grape varieties, with a majority of Syrah and Grenache. Christophe Baron has cultivated the vineyard according to biodynamic principles since 2002.
