Fred Loimer revived ancient grape varieties such as Zierfandler and Rotgipfler to craft his Sekt Brut Nature, a sparkling wine that seamlessly blends tradition, terroir, and biodynamic practices.
More infoThis Sekt Brut Nature Sekt from Fred Loimer is produced in Gumpoldskirchen in Lower Austria. This 30-hectare estate is cultivated entirely in line with biodynamic practices. The cuvée is primarily crafted from native grape varieties such as Zierfandler and Rotgipfler, cultivated on limestone and clay-rich soils, contributing to the wine’s characteristic minerality. The juice is produced following the traditional method, with an initial fermentation in stainless steel vats to preserve the freshness of the aromas. This is followed by a second fermentation in the bottle, where the juice rests on fine lees for at least 24 months to develop exceptional complexity and finesse. The nectar is disgorged without dosage to achieve its Brut Nature character.
Delicate aromas of citrus fruit and green apple rise from the glass along with floral notes and a hint of brioche. On the palate, the fresh and lively attack leads to a fine structure, supported by a marked acidity and a fine effervescence. With its refined purity, elegance, and aromatic complexity, this Sekt has earned its place as a flagship of Austrian sparkling wines.
