More infoSang de Roche by Clos Thierrière is a single-varietal Chenin Blanc. The vines used to produce this cuvée grow on the northern slopes of Vernou-sur-Brenne, nestled between Tours and Amboise. This charming village stretches for several kilometres from north to south, on the opposite bank to Montlouis-sur-Loire. Sang de Roche is crafted from vines planted on a unique 1.5-hectare parcel named Argile à Silex. This terroir, rich in flint, imparts a beautiful mineral quality to the wine. As for the name of this cuvée, Sang de Roche, it symbolises the energy the vines draw from this mineral-rich terroir. Guillaume and Baptiste Frey tend their 30-year-old vines with a strong respect for nature, free of chemical inputs. The estate is currently converting to organic farming.
Harvesting is done carefully by hand, in ten kilo crates, with meticulous sorting in the vineyard itself. The wine is aged in stainless steel vats for eight months, preserving its freshness and clarity. A gentle filtration precedes bottling, to give a full expression of the terroir.
