Château La Croix Lartigue 2009
The wine
This gorgeous property on the Côtes de Bordeaux was acquired in 2016 by Maison Kavaklidere, a big producer of wine in Turkey. The 8 hectares of vines grow in clay-chalk soil, and this blend is made up of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc. This wine is vinified traditionally with 30 days of vatting, whole-bunch fermentation and regular punching-down. The maturation takes place in French oak casks with stirring. This wine will pair well with a dish such as roasted meat in sauce.
About the Producer Pierre 1er
Perfectly situated between the Châteaux of Figeac and Cheval Blanc, Château Pierre Premier extends across 11 hectares in Saint-Emilion. Formerly known as Château Croix Figeac, the domain changed its name in 2013 at the request of the Château of the same name. Jean Dutruilh, owner of the domain, took the opportunity to rename it in homage to his father, Pierre. Today, he produces a wine whose quality never ceases to improve. The result of harvesting by hand and traditional vinification, the wine of this domaine is a confidential Saint-Emilion, produced only in small quantities, but with an unbeatable price to enjoyment ratio for the region.
