Pommard 1er Cru Les Frémiers de Courcel (Domaine) 2004
The wine
The Pommard Premier Cru Les Frémiers is located to the south of the appellation, on limestone and very clayey soil that is a deep brown shade. This Premier Cru is very distinguished and elegant, spiced and fruity with a touch of ripe prune. Dense and generous, it stands out through its silky tannins.
About the Producer Domaine de Courcel
No other domaine better embodies the Pommard appellation than Domaine Courcel. Over 10 hectares, this domaine produces the greatest red wines of the town thanks to exceptional terroirs such as the Premier Cru Grand Clos des Epenots (which it runs as a monopole) or even the Rugiens which surpass many grands crus. Since 1996, Anne Bommelaer and Marie de Courcel have managed the domaine while Gilles de Courcel, assisted by Yves Confuron, is in charge of the vinification process. The vineyards are managed organically (not certified), and the family’s demands are ever present.
