About the Producer Eric Rodez
The iconic family domain, founded in 1757 and located in the heart of the picturesque village of Ambonnay, has been established in the Champagne region for almost three centuries. The domain is currently managed by Eric Rodez, mayor of Ambonnay, the eighth generation to cultivate 35 different parcels since 1982, totalling more than 50,000 vines. After broadening his savoir-faire while working in vineyards in Burgundy, Beaujolais and Côtes du Rhône, Eric Rodez came back to the family domain with a perfect grasp of fermentation and maturation techniques. With no desire to gain a label or tick a box, he began taking a keen interest in both organic and biodynamic viticulture as early as 1989. The vines, a number of which are 70 years old, comprising 55% Pinot Noir and 45% Chardonnay, thrive on chalk, limestone and clay soils. Eric Rodez masterfully conveys the aromatic complexity and elegance of the region’s terroir in his superb Champagnes.
