The wine
The Pinot Noir parcel behind this wine from Domaine Tortochot is their oldest in Gevrey. The old vines, averaging sixty years old and planted in 1920, produce naturally modest yields, a guarantee of expressive, concentrated fruit. The rigorously harvested and sorted grapes are brought into the winery where they undergo natural fermentation. The wine is then aged in oak casks, with 20% new wood, for sixteen months, followed by blending in stainless-steel vats before bottling.
The intense red hue promises a fragrant bouquet. The nose indeed reveals generous notes of ripe red fruit such as cherry and raspberry, interlaced with violet, rose and spice, all lifted by hints of undergrowth. On the palate, a fresh attack opens onto smooth tannins, leading into a finish that is long, persistent, mineral with well-judged oak.
About the Producer Tortochot
Domaine Tortochot is a family domain located in Gevrey. A lover of Burgundy wine, Gabriel Tortochot ardently defends the region, especially given his role as the president of Gevrey-Chambertin's viticultural union. He passed down this passion to his two daughters, Brigitte and Chantal. At the age of 35, Chantal decided to take over the family business. Having qualified as an enological technician, she now produces wines that reflect their terroir thanks to careful viticulture.
