More infoMaison Lorgeril’s 400 Ans cuvée, produced in the Cabardès appellation, celebrates four centuries of winemaking in the heart of the Languedoc. The estate’s vineyards, surrounding Château de Pennautier, are planted on well-drained, stony clay-limestone soils at an average altitude of 300 metres. These conditions promote slow, even ripening while preserving the wine’s natural acidity. It is a careful blend of 40% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 20% Cabernet Franc and 15% Malbec. Harvested by hand at optimum ripeness, the grapes are carefully sorted by hand. In the winery, the fruit undergoes a long, 25-day fermentation. The wine is then partially matured for 12 months in oak barrels and three-wine 600-litre capacity barrels.
The wine displays a deep, brilliant hue lifted by garnet glints. The nose reveals an intense bouquet of ripe black fruit, sweet spices, garrigue and seamlessly integrated oak. On the palate, the attack is supple, with silky tannins and a broad, well-structured texture, balanced by refreshing acidity and a long finish marked by notes of dark fruit and pepper.
