The wine
This Echézeaux Grand Cru is made entirely from Pinot Noir, planted across 0.3017 hectares. The vines are rooted in marl and stony soils at elevations ranging from 230 to 300 metres. Aged between 50 to 90 years, they naturally induce millerandage, which the winegrower values for the concentration it brings to the wine. Vineyard work follows traditional practices, including ploughing and canopy trimming, with significant care devoted to disease prevention.
In the winery, François Confuron-Gindre also favours a traditional approach. The wine is aged for 18 months in French oak casks, with 50% new wood. Bottling is carried out in accordance with the lunar cycle. This wine will reward patience and benefit from around ten years cellaring.
About the Producer François Confuron-Gindre
In the heart of the Côte de Nuits' grands crus and spread over three of its renowned villages (Gevrey-Chambertin, Nuits-Saint-Georges and Vosne-Romanée), domain François Confuron-Gindre has farmed Pinot Noir on clay-limestone soils for six generations. Traditional methods have been maintained throughout this time, with traditional élevages imparting good aging potential. The lunar calendar is respected, particularly during bottling. One thing is certain: each and every generation innovates and brings their own personal touch, all the while retaining age-old traditions.
