An organic wine produced by a leading figure in the Jura’s natural movement.

More info

This wine bears the name that any sophisticated lover of natural wine will have heard many times before - Philippe Bornard. He offers many wonderful cuvées but one, in particular, caught our eye: this Arbois-Pupillin Le Garde Corps made from Trousseau grapes, a variety typical and emblematic of the Jura region. Benefiting from the influence of a semi-continental climate, the vines thrive in soils composed of marl and limestone using environmentally-friendly growing methods, certified organic since 2005 and Ecocert since 2013. In the cellar, the idea of producing a terroir-driven wine persists and is reflected in their commitment to low-intervention winemaking methods. Indigenous yeasts trigger fermentation and sulphur is only used in homoeopathic doses.
Particularly fresh and fruity, this wine still needs to be aerated before tasting to unveil its character of red fruits and a touch of spices. A fresh base enlivens the wine which is structured by fine tannins.

About the Producer Bornard

A reserved but passionate wine maker, Philippe Bornard decided to start making wines under his own label in 2005, making the transition from cooperative working. At this time, Overnoy (who needs no introduction) said of Bornard that he produced the best unlabelled wine he knew of. All the cuvées produced today carry the “Vin de France” appellation. The styles are diverse and varied, from vin jaune to pet' nat' (pétillant nature – natural sparkling wine) and passing by ouillé wine. And not a year goes by without Philippe trying something new. The wines have a small amount of sulphur added to avoid any unpleasant surprises. The terroir is made up of grey, red and blue marl as well as clay-veined schist. The domain's 7 hectares have been organic since 2005 and certified Ecocert since 2013.
