An alluring Pinot Noir with a fruit and flower-driven nose, a full, juicy palate, and a superb balance of freshness and generosity.
More infoChâteau de Marsannay, an iconic estate of the Côte de Nuits, also owns Pinot Noir vines in the Côte de Beaune, which are behind this wine. The soils are predominantly clay-limestone with a significant presence of pebbles and marl. Clay brings structure and fruit expression, while limestone contributes freshness and tension, resulting in a balanced, digestible style. Vinification is carried out in a traditional and precise manner. Manual harvests involve rigorous sorting in the vineyard. The grapes are partially destemmed before undergoing a cold pre-fermentation maceration in vat to enhance aromatic expression. Alcoholic fermentation is driven by native yeasts, with regular punch-downs and pump-overs. The wine is then aged for 12 months in French oak casks, with 20% new wood.
In the glass, the wine is clear, showing purplish highlights. The nose is expressive, led by fresh red fruit aromas lifted by floral and lightly spiced notes. On the palate, a supple, juicy attack gives way to a mid-palate of delightful fullness supported by fine, elegant tannins.
About the Producer Château de Marsannay
The Château de Marsannay has 28 hectares on the most beautiful terroirs of Marsannay (Champs Perdrix, Clos du Roy, Les Longeroies, Les Echezots, Les Grasses Têtes, Les Crais and so on). It has belonged to Olivier Halley (Château de Meursault) since 2012, who has invested heavily in the property. This seems to have paid off and nowadays the Château de Marsannay’s production is very interesting
