Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Referts Maison Louis Jadot 2020

The wine

Since Puligny-Montrachet us one of the best Chardonnay terroirs, Maison Louis Jadot has chosen to draw our attention to this premier cru that benefits from a perfect exposure to the south-east and from a chalky terroir. The harvests are done by hand, fermentation is traditional and carried out in oak barrels. The wine is also matured in oak barrels (50% new wood) for 8-10 months. The wine gives off distinct notes of vanilla and brioche, presenting a palate that is perfectly balanced between roundness and freshness which promises superb pairings with fleshy fish or foie gras.

About the Producer Louis Jadot

Based in Beaune, it combines historic stature with remarkable vitality, continuing to attract leading figures of the wine world to shape and interpret its many terroirs. Now owned by an American family, the wines are crafted under the assured direction of Frédéric Barnier, who safeguards the house’s hallmark precision and consistency. These unwavering standards are what sets Maison Jadot apart in Burgundy. With 225 hectares under vine and representation across 130 appellations, not only in the Côte d’Or but also in the Mâconnais and Beaujolais, wine lovers can expect genuine pleasure at every price level, always easily identifiable by the iconic Bacchus head on the label. The estate favours traditional winemaking methods, with slow fermentations and extended ageing. Chemical herbicides are prohibited and yields are strictly limited. A house where scale never eclipses identity, and tradition continues to shape every bottle.
