More info

Native to Franche-Comté, Poulsard, also known as Ploussard, is the second most common grape variety in the Jura, accounting for 80% of the region’s red grape varieties. Its small clusters and medium-sized berries flourish on red marl soils, which is where Poulsard is at its best. The vines, averaging some thirty years in age, reap the benefits of organic viticulture combined with a natural approach. In the winery, the estate combines tradition and modernity by vinifying the Poulsard grapes in a natural, low interventionist way.
The red colour is enhanced by an incredibly intense bouquet revealing expressive notes of small red fruit such as raspberry and redcurrant. The ample and structured mouthfeel affirms the aromas of the nose while delicately leading to a fresh, flavoursome and incredibly persistent finish.

About the Producer Domaine de la Renardière

Domaine de la Renardière, created in 1990, is nestled between the famous Jura villages of Arbois and Pupillin. The estate is now run by Jean Michel and Laurence Petit. They passionately tend six hectares of vines, planted with the typical grape varieties of the region such as Trousseau, Poulsard, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Savagnin. Their aim is to showcase the quality and flavours of Jura’s varieties. Well aware of the current environmental concerns and with a view to protecting biodiversity, the winemakers adhere to strict organic farming practices since 2010. It’s in these conditions that the vines with their roots dug deep into the rich, red marl soils, grow the grapes that create these top-quality vines. After harvesting the grapes entirely by hand, vinification is carried out with minimal intervention and sulphur are added in minute quantities.
For several years now, the son of the winemakers Léo Petit joined the estate, breathing a breath of fresh air into their work, all while respecting the heritage. The property offers a range of perfumed and elegant wines, perfectly reflecting the Jura terroir.
