Beaune 1er Cru Aigrots Domaine Albert Morot 2019

The wine

Nestled at the heart of the iconic Beaune terroir, the Les Aigrots climat lies mid-slope and is defined by pebbly soils rich in silt and clay, with east- and south-east-facing exposures. Combined with the estate’s organic practices, these conditions give rise to a Pinot Noir of fine tannic structure and marked minerality. Manual harvests involve sorting in the vineyard. In the winery, vinification begins with complete destemming. Fermentation takes place spontaneously with native yeasts under controlled temperature. The wine is then aged for 16 months in cask, with 25% new oak, before bottling without fining or filtration.
In the glass, the wine shows an intense, bright ruby hue. The nose opens on red fruit aromas, complemented by floral and gently spiced notes. On the palate, fine tannins combine with subtle acidity, leading into a long, fruit-driven and mineral finish that will gain further complexity with a few years in bottle.

About the Producer Albert Morot

In 1820, Albert Morot founded a trading house. It was not until 1984 that Françoise Choppin, his descendant, decided to stop trading (as did many future domaines in Bourgogne at the same time), to produce her own wines. Today, Geoffroy Choppin de Janvry manages the 8-hectare domaine. After training as an agronomic engineer, he made the transition towards organic farming. His wines are of high quality, whatever the vintage, and are always dense and fruity with fine tannins.
