Colchagua Viu Manent Viu 1 2012
The wine
The cuvée Viu is an ode to Don Miguel, the domain's founder. The wine comes from a majority of hundred-year-old Malbec. This wine exudes powerful aromas of plum, black fruits and violet. On the palate, there is a spicy, undergrowth element. Full-bodied, with supple and silky tannins, yet balanced by a pleasant acidity.
About the Producer Viu Manent
Bodegas Viu is now one of the pioneers of the Colchagua Valley. It was founded in 1935 in Santiago de Chile by a Catalonian immigrant, Miguel Viu-Garcia, who launched a négociant business. In 1954, the Viu family bought a vineyard so as to produce their own wine. The in 1966, they bought the Hacienda San Carlos de Cunaco, an old domain with pre-phylloxeric vines in the Colchagua valley. They took inspiration from the technologies developed in the Mendoza region. The domain has thus always been in advance in terms of viticultural practices and vinification. The domain is nowadays one of the leaders of the wines of Colchagua Valley.
