Corton Grand Cru Clos des Vergennes Cachat-Ocquidant 2009

The wine

Established for several generations at the foot of the Corton Hill, at the heart of the village of Ladoix Serrigny, the estate perpetuates its age-old savoir-faire with an undeniable focus on nature. The climat of Clos des Vergennes is unique in that it is surrounded by walls, and is the pride of the estate. The harvest is followed by traditional vinification. Following a fortnight’s fermentation and once the grapes have been pressed, the wine is aged in barrels, 40% of which are new, for around 11 months before being bottled.
The intense purple colour is enhanced by a full, expressive bouquet, combining aromas of blueberry and blackberry with notes of undergrowth, pepper and liquorice. The powerful, full-bodied palate reveals present, elegant tannins in a perfectly structured, velvety texture. The delicious, lingering finish promises several fine years of cellaring.

About the Producer Cachat-Ocquidant

The family estate, located at the foot of the Corton Hill, comprises ten hectares of vines stretching across the iconic Burgundy communes of Ladoix-Serrigny, Savigny-les-Beaune, Pernand-Vergelesses, Chorey-les-Beaune and Aloxe-Corton. This broad diversity of plots provides the estate with the ideal resources for producing a wide range of flavoursome cuvées. To uphold the family tradition and preserve this much-loved terroir, the estate carefully cultivates each parcel of vines according to sustainable, balanced and environmentally friendly viticulture methods. Generations have passed on their know-how in this manner. The vineyard holds the French Haute Valeur Environnementale (High Environmental Value) certification. In the winery, traditional, low-intervention vinification methods are designed to preserve the quality and personality of the fruit. This strict approach, which the winemakers have applied since the estate was founded, is the guarantee of honest, full-bodied, harmonious wines that verge on Burgundian classicism.
