Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Le Grand Pin Chapelle Saint Theodoric 2016

The wine

Each bunch of grapes is lovingly nurtured following biodynamic principles at Domaine de Cristia, and becomes a key element in the natural balance of the Rhône Valley. Cuvée Le Grand Pin, born of this philosophy, magnificently reveals the wealth of the southern climate with every sip.
The combination of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre creates the aromatic framework of this cuvée.
The rich red colour announces the intensity of the tasting experience. The aromas of ripe red fruit mingle with spicy notes on the nose. On the palate, the wine is powerful and elegant, with silky tannins. A perfect balance of structure and finesse that leaves a lasting impression.
This southern wine is best enjoyed with refined dishes. It elegantly complements dishes such as foie gras terrine, spiced lamb tajine or truffle risotto. To round things off, savour it with a chocolate fondant for a culinary experience of rare intensity.

About the Producer Domaine de Cristia

Founded in 1942 by Etienne Grangeon, Domaine Cristia began as just 2 hectares of Grenache vines used to make bulk wine. The domain was taken over by Etienne's son Alain in 1963 who expanded and greatly improved the quality of the wine. This passionate winemaker planted varieties such as Syrah Mourvèdre. It was in 1999 that the third generation took over, represented by Baptiste and Dominique who helped their father reorganise the domain, producing cellar worthy wines on a parcel by parcel basis to sell both in France and to export abroad. Today, Domaine Cristia spans 60 hectares in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Côtes-du-Rhône/Villages and Vins de Pays appellations and has held organic certification since 2008.
