Intensity
From an exceptional terroir, this close neighbour of Lafleur produces mainly Merlot-based wines which stand out for their refinement, body and fruitiness.
More infoChâteau Le Gay produces a concentrated, full-bodied Pomerol. It needs to be kept for at least ten years so that its tannins can soften and reveal a magnificent velvety fleshiness and clean finish.
A tight and polished red with delicacy and finesse I have not seen often. It’s medium-bodied with freshness and brightness. Fine tannins. James Suckling The 2025 Le Gay is classy, elegant and polished. The purity of the fruit is just remarkable. I also sense a lighter hand with regards to extraction and oak, which really helps convey more Pomerol character while really still exalting fruit. This is a sublime Le Gay. Yields were a miniscule 19 hectoliters per hectare. The 2025 underwent 12 days of cold soak followed by alcoholic fermentation in barrel, using indigenous yeast developed at the château, for about 15 days. Floral overtones perfume the finish. This is sublime stuff. Tasted two times. Vinous - Antonio Galloni
Floral and delicate on the nose, it is a rich and powerful wine with notes of ripe blackcurrant. Balanced, it has plentiful yet fine tannins, with a lovely length on the palate. 85% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc
About the Producer Château Le Gay
★ Partner ProducerWhat gives Château le Gay its strength is undoubtedly that its terroir is located next door to Lafleur. Up until her death in 2013, Catherine Péré-Vergé worked to raise Le Gay so that it became one of the finest crus of this appellation. Her very talented son Henri Parent now looks after the cru, with Michel Rolland as consultant. The estate’s second wine is called Manoir de Gay
