Lot presentation

Château Haut Batailley 5ème Grand Cru Classé 1991

The wine

Haut-Batailley is a wonderful and complete Pauillac, mainly composed of Cabernet Sauvignon (70%). It is an elegant, straight wine that develops blackcurrant and cedar aromas. It can be enjoyed after aging for 7 to 20 years.

The Château Batailley, fifth classified growth in 1855 was divided by its owners (the Borie family) in the 20th century, ready for succession. Haut-Batailley has 22 hectares of vines ideally located in Pauillac, with an average age of over 40 years. In 2004, François-Xavier Borie had invested in a new fermenting room. In 2017, the Cazes family, owner of Lynch-Bages, another fifth classified growth of Pauillac announced they were going to purchase the château.
