The wine

Larcis Ducasse’s terroir means that it can produce concentrated, sun-drenched wine that always retains a certain elegance. It has an attractive dark fruit and spice bouquet. As it develops, it delivers distinctive truffle notes. A wine to be savoured after 7 to 20 years of cellaring.

Set in Saint-Laurent-des-Combes, in the heart of the Saint-Émilion appellation, Larcis Ducasse spans 11.2 hectares of south-facing vineyards on the Grande Côte. Promoted to Premier Grand Cru Classé in 2012, the château is still owned by the Gratiot-Attmane family. Since 2024, the estate has been under the stewardship of David Suire, who succeeded Nicolas Thienpont, while the team benefits from the guidance of Julien Lavenu, a consultant with Derenoncourt Consultants. The vineyard is rooted in a mosaic of terroirs: asteriated limestone plateau, limestone clays, Fronsadais molasse and clay-sand soils. Underground springs and the freshness of the clay moderate the slope’s exposure to the sun. Planted mainly with Merlot and complemented by Cabernet Franc (15%), it produces wines that are fleshy, powerful and silky, underpinned by fine tannins, a chalky backbone and lovely tension.
