Western Cape Savage Are We There Yet 2023

The wine

This cuvée is a blend of Syrah and Touriga Nacional, a Portuguese grape variety widely used to make Port. Duncan Savage has successfully harnessed the power, concentration and intensity of these two noble red grape varieties. Thanks to his unique winemaking alchemy, he has created a wine bursting with energy, minerality and fruit concentration. The majority of the grapes used for this wine originate from Malgas near Swellendam, hence the name, Are We There Yet.
On the nose, it is rocky and mineral, with a fragrant touch of violet, blueberry, red cherry, strawberry candy and hints of English fruit drops. Full-bodied and fleshy on the palate, it displays impressive blackberry and chalky graphite tannins. Supple and elegant, harmoniously concentrated and clean, it delivers a seductive finish with notes of black fruit. Serve it with a delicious grilled red meat.
