Château Reynon 2001
The wine
Château Reynon's white wine is a blend of mostly Sauvignon grapes, complemented by Sémillon. It is typical of the white wines in the region, offering notes of lemon and grapefruit with a hint of minerality and smokiness. On the palate it is unctuous, well-balanced and fresh with a fine length.
Reynon Chateau, in AOC Cadillac-Côtes-de-Bordeaux, is owned by the Dubourdieu family (Doisy-Daëne, Clos Floridène, Cantegril…). The vineyard is spread out over 20 hectares of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot and almost 13 hectares of white grapes (Sauvignon and Sémillon). The viticulture is integrated, using no herbicides and the soil is ploughed; the property is also in the process of phasing out its use of synthetic pesticides. In order to balance its carbon footprint, the Dubourdieu family also manages a forest estate that is equal to the size of its vineyards. The château produces a red wine of Premières Côtes de Bordeaux appellation, and for the vintages that allow it, a fortified wine of Cadillac appellation. This is a classic Bordeaux.
