Lot presentation

Pommard 1er Cru Les Jarollières La Pousse d'Or (Domaine de) 2009

The wine

Pommard Premier Cru Les Jarollières offers aromas of red and dark fruit (cherry, blackberry, blueberry) with liquorice and coffee notes. The same fruitiness continues on the palate along with a delightful level of concentration and roundness. The overall effect is very harmonious.

Located in Volnay, Domaine de la Pousse d’Or draws on centuries of Burgundian history, taking on its modern identity in the mid-twentieth century. Acquired by Patrick Landanger in 1997, the estate is now led by his son Benoît, who continues the pursuit of excellence through a deep respect for each terroir.
The vineyard extends across around 17 hectares, stretching from the Côte de Beaune to the Côte de Nuits and encompassing such prestigious appellations as Volnay, Pommard, Corton, Chambolle-Musigny, Morey-Saint-Denis and Puligny-Montrachet. The estate is home to an exceptional collection of seven Grands Crus, eleven Premiers Crus and three monopoles, including the iconic Clos de la Bousse d’Or, Clos des 60 Ouvrées and Clos d’Audignac.
Biodynamic viticulture and manual harvesting set the tone for a slow, gentle approach to vinification. The winery is arranged over several levels, allowing both grapes and wines to pass naturally from one stage to the next by gravity, without pumping. Ageing on fine lees is carefully managed to enhance precision, depth and ageing potential. Here, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay give rise to elegant, racy wines that express their origins with remarkable clarity.
