What makes this wine special?

An honest and vibrant cuvée, a true reflection of the southern Côte de Beaune with juicy aromas of red fruits and spices.

More info

This cuvée, the result of a collaboration between Willy Roulendes and Paul Perarnau, comes from the slopes of Maranges, south of the Côte de Beaune. Operating under the radar for a long time, the Maranges appellation has been experiencing a resurgence in recent years thanks to committed winemakers, such as the AMI duo. Maranges derives its distinctive character from a clay-limestone terroir mixed with ferruginous and sandy marls. This well-drained and south-facing soil gives the wines a strong structure, lovely freshness and crisp fruitiness. The wine is produced using low-intervention methods that are loyal to the ethics of the estate: hand-harvests, maceration in whole bunches, spontaneous fermentation using indigenous yeasts and ageing for 12 months in old barrels. The wine is not fined nor filtered and only a minimal amount of sulphur is present.
This bright ruby-red wine has aromas of fresh cherries and redcurrants with a hint of pepper. The palate is juicy and fluid, with lovely tension and silky tannins.

Ask Margaux, your digital wine guide, a question

After moving to Burgundy, Paul Perarnau and Willy Roulendes sealed their friendship forever when they founded Domaine AMI.
After graduating in viticulture and oenology, Willy decided to learn from the best. This led him to the Domaine de Montille near Volnay. During this period, he discovered and fully embraced the strict principles of biodynamic practices. He then headed to Auxey-Duresses to hone his already polished skills by working at Clos du Moulin aux Moines.
Meanwhile, after a spell in England working for an importer, Paul returned to France and headed for Provence, to work at the renowned Dominique Hauvette’s estate. He completed his training with three years in Champagne, where he worked in Bruno Paillard’s vineyard.
The pair who became friends when they met at the Clos du Moulin aux Moines decided to create their own domain, which now boasts fives hectares of vines. The entire operation is organic, with no chemical fertilisers or additives. What’s more, the estate’s trading business has been developed on this time. This allows the winemaking duo to expertly harness all the nuances of the Burgundian terroir.
