Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru Henri Magnien (Domaine) 2012
The wine
Whilst discrete, Domaine Henri Magnien crafts beautiful wines in some exceptional appellations like this Ruchottes-Chambertin grand cru, one of the smallest grands crus of the Gevrey-Chambertin village. The current owner, Charles Magnien, cultivates his Pinot noir on shallow soils that are rich in chalk. Exposed to the east at 250 metres of altitude, this is quite the ideal location! Matured in oak casks and made to be aged, this wine has a dense, ruby-red colour. Its aromatic bouquet is characterised by notes of red, fleshy fruit. As for the palate, it is expressive and structured by good tannins, underlined by a certain finesse that invites pairings with flavourful meat dishes or crisp, green vegetables.
