About the Producer Marjosse
Alongside his managing of Château Cheval Blanc, Pierre Lurton keeps a close eye on his own estate, Château Marjosse. He has owned the latter since 1997, and has since doubled its land to cover no less than 71 hectares. Whilst it’s located in Bordeaux’s Entre-deux-Mers region, Marjosse’s terroir is not unlike what we find in Saint-Emilion thanks to the fossil-rich chalk soil.
Nearly 50 hectares are planted with red varieties (Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Malbec) used to make Bordeaux appellation wines. The rest of the land grows Sauvignon (aorund 50%), Sémillon, and a bit of Muscadelle, to make an Entre-Deux-Mers cuvée.
This interesting mix of grape varieties is precisely what drew Lurton to the area, and his talent is showcased in the character of his Château Marjosse, an estate now renowned for its high-quality, elegant produce. These wines are sought for their enjoyable, easy-drinking profile.
