Introducing the latest gem in dry white wines from Château Guiraud, a prestigious name in Sauternes.

More info

This fine dry white wine from Château Guiraud is a blend of 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Semillon. It stems from the exceptional Sauternes terroir, known for its sweet wines but also for producing fine dry wines. Here, the soils consist of 80% sandy gravel and 20% clayey gravel. The first vintage of this cuvée was 2020, with only 11,000 bottles produced.
Following manual harvesting at peak ripeness, fermentation starts in oak barrels. Ageing lasts for 12 months. On tasting, the wine reveals aromas of citrus fruit and a beautiful freshness balanced by a roundness that coats the palate. This wine offers outstanding ageing potential (over 10 years). It will pair well with fine dishes such as grilled lobster, sea bass with butter sauce, or even foie gras as a starter. Recommended serving temperature: 12 °C. Decant when tasting young.

About the Producer Château Guiraud

The Château Guiraud is the Sauternais' largest estate. Its soil is comprised of sandy and clay gravel that requires regular draining. The vineyard is carefully maintained throughout the year in compliance with tradition and respect for the environment. In order to harvest perfectly ripe and botyrised grapes, harvests at the Château Guiraud are rigorously carried out, leading to a meticulous selection process. Yields here are generally below the 25 hl/ha norm, sometimes even dropping as low as 12 hl/ha in order to produce wine of great quality. The Château Guiraud also sells a second wine, the Dauphin de Château Guiraud, (Sauternes appellation) as well as a dry white called the G de Château Guiraud (Bordeaux appellation). 2006 saw the arrival of four new owners (Robert Peugeot and three wine-makers, Olivier Bernard, Stephan Von Neipperg and Xavier Planty), marking the beginning of a new era for this Sauternes premier cru classé, which now places eco-friendly practices at the heart of its approach.
