A rich, powerful red wine with assertive tannins and good ageing potential, all the hallmarks of a great Burgundy Pinot Noir.
More infoPinot noir, King of Burgundy's grape varieties and at the source of some of the finest wines, is renowned for producing fruity vintages with great ageing possibilities. Here, it reveals its full potential. The vines, growing on limestone and iron soils, flourish in a continental climate. In the winery as in the vineyards, each step is meticulously carried out with respect for nature. In the cellar, the grapes are macerated for long periods and pumped over regularly to extract as much tannin and colour as possible from the Pinot Noir grapes. Lastly, the wine is matured in barrels for 12 months, imparting subtle woody notes to the cuvée. Fruity and intense, the wine reveals a rich, powerful palate thanks to firm tannins combined with aromas of ripe red fruit. The harmonious ensemble promises to evolve well with cellaring, with an ageing potential of up to 20 years.
About the Producer Saint-Antoine des Echards (Domaine)
Located in the heart of the Hautes Côtes de Beaune, Domaine Saint-Antoine des Echards was founded in 1998 by Marie-Christine and Franck Guérin. Since 2016, they have been joined by their son Pierre-Antoine, the fifth generation of the family to work the vines. The family estate covers 60 hectares, including 35 classified under the regional Hautes Côtes de Beaune appellation. The estate cultivates the region’s two signature grape varieties: Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. After low-intervention vinification that allows the fruit to fully express its aromas, the wines are aged in oak casks for 6 to 12 months depending on the cuvée. The red wines offer a classic and generous profile, with a deep purple hue, fruity aromas and a touch of spice. The white wines reveal golden highlights and aromas of white flowers laced with notes of honey. The estate produces authentic, elegant wines that capture the harmony and exceptional balance of the Burgundian terroir.
