More infoA family business that the iDealwine team is especially fond of, Bret Brothers give us this white Saint-Véran from the "En Combe” climat. A little under 40 years old, the Chardonnay vines used to craft this wine come from a Chasselas hillside, drawing the necessary nutrients for their development from limestone soils that are rich in iron. This parcel’s exposure to the rising sun, south of the appellation, allows the grapes to gently mature and reach optimal ripeness before being harvested by hand and sorted. This careful organic farming method is followed by meticulous vinification with minimal intervention, which involves pressing whole grapes, and ageing in 228-litre barrels for a month. The iron content of the terroir gives this wine a noble ageing potential - up to 10 years, in fact. Enjoyable at any time, it offers a wonderful purity, with notes of white fruits and flowers. Intense and dense, this bottle is supported by a delightful minerality and finishes with a delicate saline touch.
About the Producer Bret Brothers
The Bret Brothers domain was founded in 2001 by brothers Jean-Philippe and Jean-Guillaume Bret. They are also the brothers behind the Domaine de la Soufrandière. Their objective has been clear from the beginning: to create specially selected high quality wines under strict and precise specifications. The Bret brothers buy unharvested grapes and then vinify them themselves. Some of their cuvées have organic certification.
