A 100% Viognier with remarkable aromatic intensity.
More infoViognier de Rosine is, as its name suggests, a single-grape Viognier wine. It is cultivated in the granitic soil of the commune of Tupin-Semons, on the edge of appellation, hence its IGP Collines Rhodaniennes classification. However, this lively wine has the most remarkable aromatic intensity. Its fruity notes of peach, apricot, citrus and white flowers intermingle with great refinement. Stéphane Ogier produces the wine by harvesting the grapes by hand, then conducting direct pressing, fermentation in barrique barrels and wooden tuns with native yeasts, and finally a 10-month élevage in barrique barrels and tuns on fine lees. Viognier de Rosine is definitely a wine for drinking with good food, and will be delicious with a shrimp risotto.
About the Producer Stéphane Ogier
As this estate on the hillsides of Ampuis has been in the family for seven generations, it was perfectly natural for Stéphane Ogier to take over from his father Michel in 1997. Having learned his craft in Burgundy, he has decided to produce single-plot wines to achieve the best expression of each terroir. He also strives constantly for elegance and finesse. Today, the vines are planted on 27 hectares of granite and shale soil. Viticulture is conducted according to sustainable principles. Two distinct terroirs define the estate’s identity: the Côte Brune and the Côte Blonde, both shaped by a relatively cool climate. Since 2015, the estate operates in an ultramodern winery, equipped with over 600 barriques, ensuring precision in both vinification and ageing. Today, Stéphane Ogier’s wines clearly belong among the elite, thanks to his unwavering pursuit of excellence driven by passion, ambition, talent, and creativity.
