More infoPierre Moncuit's Blanc de Blancs Millésimé Non Dosé cuvée is produced from grand cru Chardonnay grapes... the highest possible distinction in the Champagne appellation. The wine is undosed, enabling it to express the full potential of the Mesnil-sur-Oger terroir, complemented by several years of élevage in the cellar to round out and enhance its aromas. This champagne has a straw-yellow colour with old gold hints, and offers a rich, complex bouquet characterised by buttery, toasted brioche aromas, as well as a remarkable vivacity courtesy of its mineral notes. In the mouth, the attack is rich and intense, fresh and pure, followed by the appearance of the brioche flavours typical of ripe Chardonnay. Perfect as an apéritif or as an accompaniment to grilled fish.
About the Producer Pierre Moncuit
A rare female winemaker in Champagne, Valérie Charpentier, the daughter of Nicole Moncuit, has been at the helm of the Pierre Moncuit estate since 2007. She carries forward the Moncuit family legacy, rooted in the Côte des Blancs since the 19th century, crafting Champagnes with a distinctly personal touch. The estate’s identity rests on two defining choices: a pure 100% Chardonnay expression and the deliberate absence of reserve wines. This philosophy, combined with an outstanding savoir-faire passed down through four generations in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, gives rise to wines of remarkable clarity and precision.
The vines are a highly respectable average age of 50 years, reaching up to 90 years old in some parcels reserved exclusively for the most prestigious wines. A new, more modern winery now allows each parcel to be kept fully separate all the way through to bottling, ensuring the utmost respect for individual terroirs. Meticulous viticulture across the family’s 20 hectares is behind the production of refined, complex Champagnes, defined by their finesse and delicately persistent bead. The estate has worked with a deep respect for its environment and terroir for many years, and is currently in the process of obtaining Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE) certification.
Away from the spotlight, the Pierre Moncuit estate’s limited, small-scale production is widely sought-after by leading Champagne enthusiasts and one to keep on your radar.
