About the Producer Léonis
Established in the vines of Beaujolais since 2011, Raphael and Cristelle Champier live an idyllic life with their vineyard. Passionate winemakers, they restructured their domain in 2015 and manage plots shared between three different appellations: Côte de Brouilly, Brouilly and Beaujolais Villages. In both the vineyard and the cellar, a philosophy is followed: respect for raw material. Thus, the 7.5 hectares of vines are treated as naturally as possible. Raphael and Cristelle don't overwork the schist and granite soil, and since 2017, a flock of sheep graze on the grass. The old vines, between 90 and 100 years in age, have managed to face several diseases thanks to the wind that sanitises the plots. In total, the Champiers produce six cuvées of red wine. Their work ethic, natural vinification and supple, delicate wines place them undeniably among the best young talent of the region's vineyards.
