In 2021, like many winemakers, Damien and Florence Laureau faced significant frost damage, losing a large portion of their harvest. To compensate, they turned to two friends in Anjou.

More info

This Vin de France produced in 2021 is sourced from schist soils in La Pommeraye, 30 km west from Savannières, and limestone in Puy-Notre-Dame, South of Saumur. Alain Boré and Thibault Masse generously contributed organically certified Chenin Blanc grapes. The resulting cuvée, aptly named ‘Les Raisins de l’Amitié’ (The Grapes of Friendship), is a testament to solidarity and shared passion.
In the winery, Damien and Florence Laureau vinified the grapes with the same attention they dedicate to their own wines. Vinification and ageing took place over ten months in a combination of 400-litre barrels and stainless-steel vats, preserving the wine’s freshness and purity. Some 10,000 bottles were produced.
On tasting, this wine offers a lively and supple texture, a lively freshness and beautiful balance. Its vibrant character makes it an excellent choice for dishes like beurre blanc fish or a selection of cheeses.

About the Producer Domaine Laureau

Domaine Laureau is located in the Loire Valley, not far from Angers, and has been part of the winemaking landscape for over 20 years. This is where Damien Laureau cultivates six hectares of Chenin, converted to organic farming since 2012.
Absolutely no synthetic products come into play in this vineyard. Life develops naturally underground helping to retain the purest expression of the terroir. Manual work performed in the vineyard further reinforces this ethos. Several successive passes are conducted to harvest the Chenin grapes, which are then left to settle for around 12 hours. Once fermentation using native yeasts is complete, the cuvées are matured on the lees for 18 to 24 months, gradually increasing the wine’s roundness and aromatic richness.
Damien recently planted half a hectare of vines in a closed vineyard overlooking the region. This promises further authentic cuvées reflecting the peaceful harmony achieved between the winemaker and the life of his land.
