These parcels lie to the north-east of the village of Sury-en-Vaux, where the Claude Riffault estate is based, with vines thriving at elevations of up to 270 metres. The name of the locality, Les Chasseignes, reflects the nature of the caillottes soils made up of shallow limestone with tightly interlocking stones. With a south-east exposure, the vines – aged 17 to 45 years – benefit from sunlight and cooling breezes from morning till night.
The estate is certified organic and is currently converting to biodynamic farming. After harvesting, the grapes are carefully sorted. In the winery, they are pressed in a pneumatic press, followed by a cold static settling stage. Vinification and ageing take place in wooden vessels, with the wine spending 8 months on the lees, with occasional stirring.
The palate is fresh , while the nose shows a classic Sauvignon profile, combining vegetal notes with green fruit.
