The 4 Kilos Vinicola estate belongs to the VT Mallorca appellation. It was founded in 2006 by Francesc Grimalt and Sergio Caballero, who raised 4 million pesetas (hence the name “4 kilos”) to make their project a reality.
Their “Motor Callet” perfectly embodies the Mediterranean spirit, with its fruity, lively and juicy character, which is a hit even with wine novices.
This unique blend of 70% Callet and 30% Fogoneu–two native Mallorcan varieties–is produced in amphoras made of local clay, which intensify its freshness and personality. Fermentation and ageing take place in brick jars and vats, preserving the purity and expressiveness of the wine.
Its intense ruby red colour catches the eye, while its aromas of black fruit, prunes, mushroom and pepper make for a bewitching nose. On the palate, it is very smooth and round, with well-balanced tannins and a long, fruity finish.

About the Producer 4 Kilos Vinícola

Located in the south-east of the island of Majorca, 4 Kilos Vinicola domaine is a winery established in 2006 by Sergio Caballero and Francesco Grimalt. The two men started off their business in ad hoc way with a milk tank and some old barrels. Fired by their environmental convictions, they wanted to prove that it was perfectly possible to produce quality grapes without major investment in resources. The gamble paid off. They cultivate their 7 hectares of vines in an idiosyncratic manner and therefore choose to spurn the criteria for the D.O Mallorca appellation in favour of Vino de la Tierra or VT, which corresponds to a PGI, protected geographical indication. Each cuvée reflects its vintage. Their approach conforms to a “vine stock-soil-climate-producer” circle. The domaine boasts a clay and silty sand terroir, rich in ferrous oxide. The winemakers are keen to vinify indigenous grape varieties such as Manto Negro, Fogoneu and Callet. They also cultivate more traditional and international varieties including Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
