A powerful and aromatic special edition celebrating 900 years since the Ordre des Chartreux (The Carthusian Order) was founded.
More infoThis special cuvée was created in 1984 to commemorate 900 years since the Ordre des Chartreux (The Carthusian Order) was founded by Saint Bruno in 1084. Just like yellow and green Chartreuse, it is made from more than 130 plants, herbs, bark, and macerated spices, distilled then aged for a long time in oak barrels. The 9th century Chartreuse is a blend of liqueurs with different ageing profiles. Very aromatic, not as sweet as green Chartreuse, this special edition with 47% alcohol stands out with its perfect balance between power and the delicacy of aromas. On the nose, you’ll find a mix of medicinal plants and hints of aniseed which becomes a powerful, ample, almost fatty feeling on the palate that stretches into the long, peppery finish. It can be enjoyed as a refreshing digestif, served with ice cubes.
The bottle, identifiable by its unique number, is inspired by the design of the bottles used in the 19th century.
