More info

This superb rum was distilled by the Long Pond distillery, one of the last two distilleries in the parish of Trelawny in Jamaica. The production methods have remained unchanged since 1753, when the first barrel of rum was made, and comply with strict specifications. The eau-de-vie benefits from a long maturation period of 12 years in the heart of its native island, in a tropical climate that imparts deliciousness, depth and warmth. The angels’ share is 55% each year, allowing the range of aromas to develop and concentrate tenfold.
The elegant copper-coloured colour reveals a powerful nose, with expressive, complex aromas of orange peel and flambéed pineapple. The rich, full palate is heightened by aromas of English sweets, complemented by flavours of exotic fruit, gently leading to a lingering, flavoursome finish.

About the Producer Long Pond

The Long Pond distillery was founded in Trelawny in 1753, some 12 miles from Hampden, and is named after a mountain in the north of Jamaica. Seagram’‘s CEO Samuel Bronfman bought the distillery from the Jamaican government in the 1940s and began producing Captain Morgan there in 1944. After Seagram was disbanded and the Captain Morgan brand bought by Diageo, Long Pond joined National Rum of Jamaica, a company owned by the Jamaican government, Demerara Distillers Limited and Maison Ferrand. The distillery was closed from 2012 to 2017 and was almost destroyed in a fire in 2018. Thankfully, the damage was not too serious and the distillery’‘s John Dore pot stills and Blair column still continue to operate today, producing various profiles of very popular rums.
