Rioja DOCA Remelluri Reserva Granja Nuestra Senora de Remelluri (no reserve) 2010

The wine

This is the property’s very first wine, crafted in the classic style of a Médoc. Tempranillo, Grenache, Graciano, Viura and Malvasia are fermented with indigenous yeasts and then aged for 17 months in barrels. This Rioja is full of character with notes of very ripe fruit and spice. Its tannins are nicely blended and it has a wonderful acidic backbone.

About the Producer Granja Nuestra Senora de Remelluri

Located in the Rioja Alavesa region, the Remelluri domaine is run by the Rodríguez Hermandorea family, which has made the choice to produce its wines in textbook Bordeaux style. When he took over the domaine in 2010, Telmo Rodriguez, assisted by his sister Amaya, and Anne-Claude Leflaive (owner of the Leflaive domain in Burgundy), made significant far-reaching changes. He wanted his wine to reflect the terroir. From that point onwards, wine were produced exclusively using grapes from the domaine's 200 parcels. These parcels are cultivated using biodynamic viticulture techniques. The bodega is now one of the top vineyards in the region.
