The wine
The favourable influences of sea breezes and easterly winds result in cool nights that allow the grapes to slowly mature. The grapes are manually harvested and subjected to a slow, meticulous fermentation process followed by ageing in new barrels for a third of the year. This deeply-coloured wine gives off notes of red fruits and oak. On the palate, it is refined, intense and powerful yet balanced by a nice freshness. With a long finish and pronounced tannins, this wine is made to be aged.
About the Producer Sejana
Alain Moueix (at the helm of the Château Mazeyres and Château Saint André Corbin), joined forces with the founder of the South African Savanha Wines to produce two cuvées from grapes grown in Durbanville and Stellenbosch - two of the most beautiful wine-growing regions in the country. From deep within these granite red clay soils grow Merlots designed to make Sejana.
