Lot presentation

E.H. Taylor Of. Barrel Proof Uncut & Unfiltered 1st and Only (67,7°)

The wine

A Colonol E.H. Taylor bottled at cask strength (Barrel Proof), unlike the other versions in the range, bottled at 50% in keeping with the Bottled in Bond Act of 1897 of which E.H. Taylor was an ardent supporter. Born in 1830, Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor Junior ran various distilleries, including OFC, today known as Buffalo Trace. After selling his shares to George T. Stagg, he built the Old Taylor distillery in Frankfort and created the brand of the same name. The brand was bought by National Distillers after Prohibition and the distillery closed in 1972. Production was moved to Old Grand-Dad until 1987 and the brand was finally bought by Sazerac in 2009. The whiskey is currently produced at Buffalo Trace.

About the Producer E.H. Taylor

Founded in 1792, the Buffalo Trace Distillery is located in Frankfort, in the state of Kentucky. Owned by the Sazerac group, it has been known under several names including George T. Stagg and Old Fire Copper (OFC), and is thought to be the oldest distillery in operation in the United States. It produces an eponymous brand of bourbon, Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight Bourbon, as well as numerous other brands including William Larue Weller, Thomas H. Handy, Georges T. Stagg and the famous Pappy Van Winkle.
